MORANNEDD
Ffestiniog,
Gwynedd LL41 4LG

The welcome of Brian and Gwen Maddison at Morannedd Guest House is as large as their warm personalities. There is always time for a chat which, together with a warm relaxing atmosphere, lends itself to a rather special break..
Gwen loves music, plays the piano beautifully and teaches others to play too. Gwen is the quieter of the two, with a ready smile and is a dab hand in the kitchen.
Brian has a keen sense of humour and is always ready for a chat - he just loves people!
| Morannedd is a Victorian family house built around 1886 overlooking the beautiful Vale of Ffestiniog. The name means "Rest house by the sea" However, though not too far off, sight of the sea is non-existent! |
|
| It would appear that the sea was once much closer than it is now. Brian is the one to ask about that ! | |
Most of the bedrooms are en-suite. The delightful Victorian sitting-room, overlooking the mountains, is a pleasure to relax in. Our excellent breakfasts are available in the dining room. If you want a meal in the evening, there are a number of commendable eating places nearby.

There are miles of paths for gentle rambles to spectacular waterfalls, woodlands and lakes, or, for the more energetic, the mountains provide a greater challenge. There is a riding school in Maentwrog, a short distance away, for those who prefer to view the hills from horseback.

Ffestiniog, a tranquil village surrounded by the mountains, is mainly associated with the world-famous, narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway, which chuffs along this beautiful valley from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, home of the award winning Llechwedd Slate Caverns. The enchanting village of Portmeirion, scene of "The Prisoner", is well worth a visit. A slight detour brings you to Harlech with its spectacular mediaeval castle, glorious beach and championship golf course.
Visit Betws-y-Coed, reputed to be North Wales' most popular inland resort, en-route to Bodnant Gardens, a must for garden lovers, or Trefriw for a tour round the Woollen mill.
Coed-y-Brenin provides lovely forest walks alongside tumbling streams for nature lovers, or you may choose mountain biking on the centre’s excellent tracks, and there's so much more.....
We hope that you will come and join us for a holiday or short break.
